Drop Coffee Roasters - Stockholm, Sweden
As one of the first few Nordic specialty coffee roasters roasting light and clean coffees, Drop Coffee Roasters started in 2009 as a small coffee bar, and in 2010 began roasting their own beans using a 1kg machine in the back of the shop. As their quality and reputation grew, they upgraded to a 25kg Diedrich roaster in 2012 and moved production into a dedicated facility, allowing them to scale thoughtfully while staying true to their roots.
At the helm of Drop Coffee is Joanna Alm, the managing director and co-owner. Joanna is a highly respected figure in the coffee industry, having won the Swedish Coffee Roasting Championship three times. She has also represented Sweden at the World Coffee Roasting Championship, where she placed among the top three, including a second-place finish.
Drop Coffee sources all of their green coffee directly from single farms or cooperatives they’ve personally visited, with a focus on long-term relationships and fair pricing. Their sourcing partners are primarily based in Central and South America, East Africa, and parts of Southeast Asia. By maintaining close contact with producers, they’re able to ensure consistency, traceability, and shared commitment to quality and sustainability.
When it comes to roasting, Drop Coffee aims for a cup that's clean and bright, allowing the coffee's origin and personality to shine. They employ a light yet well-developed roast profile, meticulously tailored to enhance each bean's natural acidity and sweetness. This approach ensures clarity, consistency, and making their coffees versatile for various brewing methods.
