POMA Coffee Research
Copenhagen, Denmark
POMA is an agronomic research and coffee roasting company based in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was started by co-founder Rasmus Madsen, who is a fruit cultivation researcher that uses his background to advance research in coffee cultivation and processing.
They’re best known for their climate controlled research station in Fyn, Denmark, where they study how coffee plants respond to different environments and farming practices – most notably their coffees that are grown at simulated elevations and are treated with various biostimulants and pollinated manually.
They also collaborate closely with farms around the world, renowned estates like Volcán Azul, for example, to implement and scale up research findings – their goal is to bridge the gap between research and practical application, making sustainability more accessible and effective.
POMA’s roasting style paired with their agricultural practices, like extended drying periods, makes for super clean and sweet cups that are true reflections of their respective terroirs and framing practices.
