Good Life Coffee
Helsinki, Finland
“Avoid Bad Life” – the motto practiced by coffee duo, both former Finnish Brewers Cup champions, Lauri Pipinen and Aleksi Kuusijärvi. The Helsinki based roastery originally started as a cafe in 2012, and started roasting coffee two years later.
Though as roasters they started out under the radar in the global coffee scene, they’ve recently become quite renowned especially in Northern Europe, and now even boast numerous coffee awards. Earlier this year, they won Nordic’s Best Roaster award at Nordic Coffee Fest, and were awarded Filter Coffee of the Year at Helsinki Coffee Festival!
Good Life sources their coffee from the producers they have deep relationships with, whom they buy coffees from year after year. They treat coffee seasonally, determining their coffee selection on the optimal harvest seasons of each farm, allowing them to get the freshest greens each season and sustainably maintain their selection to avoid waste.
The profiles of their coffees are pleasantly clean, sweet, soft, and overall just really comfortable to enjoy – bringing us back to 2017 when we first stumbled upon their cafe in Helsinki on a snowy winter night, where we nibbled on a steam-wand scrambled egg and flipped through Finnish coffee magazines with a side of pour-over. While they no longer run a cafe, to this day it’s still one of our coziest memories — well-reflected in each of the coffees they offer as a roastery.
